Internet Banking Security

Internet banking is a safe way of doing your banking provided that you take reasonable precautions.
Cairns Penny Savings & Loans internet banking system uses 128 bit SSL encryption technology to provide the best protection available to ensure all information is protected from unauthorised access.

While we can control our technology and machinery we do not have control over your personal PC or other machines you might use to access your accounts using the internet.  Security of internet banking is highly dependent on your actions too - in keeping your password and login details secret, and in ensuring that the computers you use are maintained free from spyware and other malicious software or hardware.  It is your responsibility that this equipment is suitably secure by using the latest virus software, system patches and a firewall.  Also beware when using a computer that is not your own, remembering that you don’t know what security precautions (or weaknesses) these machines have.

The best way to ensure that your internet banking is done safely is to:

* Only access our site by typing http:/www.cairnspenny.com.au in the browser window;
* Never use a link that is within an email;
* Always maintain your system with the latest patches;
* Always run virus protection software on your computer and ensure that it is up to date;
* Install and use a firewall on your system;
* Do not save your user name/number and password in the browser password save list.
* Always ensure that you have logged-off your internet banking session and closed the internet browser when you have finished or leave the computer.

Members should beware of bogus emails which pretend to be from Cairns Penny Savings & Loans. While we have not been the target of such activity, most people will have at some time received emails which claim to be from a financial institution, requesting that you verify your identity and password.

DO NOT OPEN THESE EMAILS.  We will never email you requesting such action.
